Chateau Corbin is situated in a medieval village

within the city of Liverdun, bounded by ancient fortifications built in the middle ages. It was named after the wealthy family ‘Corbin’ who resided in Nancy and at the turn of the 20th century, they were the

patrons of art schools in the Nancy region

such as Gallé, Majorelle, Prouvé, etc.

Liverdun had been home for many important artists,

whose artwork was later entitled ‘art nouveau’, a combination of representational and decorative elements in the artwork.

Most of them had painted the landscape and art nouveau architectures of Liverdun, the castle, and the river Moselle beneath it. In the 1900s it was a favourite weekend retreat of the bourgeoisie, the emerging, dominant middle class professionals at that time.
